    DB2 sys-auth 3.0.0.27 released

    Sun, 10 May 2009

    Bugs fixed:

    1. Backups were failing because the forked child had a copy of the parent's file handles. The outcall request took a while, during which time having the handles open lead to backups unable to obtain exclusive access and failing.
    2. On Linux, use getgrouplist instead of getgrent. This means a Samba/winbind setup that doesn't advertise to the grent interface still gets the user's groups.
    3. Stop thread-unsafe behavior between fork and exec, this prevents hangs seen doing a large number of grants.

    Changes:

    1. Debug now goes to /tmp/sys-auth.debug. Syslog is no longer used. Conf file/setting is the same as before, just 0/1 is no debug, 2+ is all debug.

    db2_sys-auth 3.0.0.17 available

    Sun, 8 Mar 2009

A new release of the DB2 system authentication plugin is available. This is a recommended upgrade for any customer using DB2 v9.5. There is a known incompatibility with DB2 v8.5 and v9.1. Customers using DB2 versions before v9.5 should continue to use db2_sys-auth 3.0.0.5. We are working on finding a way to support all versions in the same package.

    Changes:

    • Install script/doc re-written to be easier to follow.
    • Fixed install_dash.sh not working.
    • Fixed install.sh and install_das not working on Solaris.
    • On AIX, when running ./install.sh <instance owner>, LAM is now the default.
    • Now works with the AIX LDAP module as a user/group backend.
    • Fixed auth/groups failure under load (threading bug)
    • No longer installs a signal handler, fixes a case where SQL BackTrack was leaving defunct processes.
    • Added a level 2 debug message listing which groups the user is a member of.
